Eeva Scheele
Communications and Public Diplomacy Specialist
About
I'm a Finnish native currently living in Vienna, Austria and working at the Permanent Mission of Finland to the OSCE, where I´m in charge of the communications and press relations for Finland´s 2025 chairpersonship of the OSCE.
Previously, I worked as spokesperson at the Permanent Representation of Finland to the EU in Brussels, Belgium. As spokesperson, I prepared government ministers, ambassadors and diplomats for press events, trained our staff in digital diplomacy and briefed both Finnish and international media on Finland's positions in EU politics. In 2019, I worked as spokesperson for Finland's Presidency of the EU Council. As a result, I received the 2020 Annual Communications Award of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Finland for exceptional use of social media during the Presidency.
A decade of work experience in the fields of media and communications both in Finland and abroad has provided me with a solid expertise in strategic communications, digital storytelling as well as public diplomacy.
During the past ten years, I've worked, among other things, in developing communications and content strategies, consulting organizations with crisis communications, managing social media accounts and handling public relations for a vast variety of organizations, such as the Finnish Red Cross and the member organizations of the Confederation of Finnish Industries. I am also a skilled editor and writer with experience in journalism.
I'm passionate about arts and culture, current affairs and social commentary. As a presenter and public speaker, I've hosted a wide range of live events such as press conferences, press launches and seminars.
I work fluently in English, French, Spanish, Swedish and Finnish, the latter being my mother tongue. I enjoy living in between cultures and languages. I love to travel and being able to report home about exciting discoveries abroad.
I hold a Master's degree in Communications Studies and Political Sciences.
